Local Mercedes-Benz Dealership to Build New Facility
Need for additional room to accommodate demand and anticipated growth fuels decision to locate at corner of Interstate 55 and Steed Road
JACKSON, Miss. (July 12, 2016) – Mercedes-Benz of Jackson today announced plans to expand its operations with the construction of new, state of the art dealership located at the corner of I-55 and Steed Road in Ridgeland.
Trudy Higginbotham-Moody, co-owner and president of Mercedes-Benz of Jackson, said the facility is needed to meet strong sales demand and she noted the 10-acre site will allow ample room for future growth.
“Simply put we were land locked, even after two expansions in recent years,” said Higginbotham-Moody, who oversees day-to-day operations at the dealership. “We carefully studied several options that would allow us to best serve our customers. We looked at possible sites in all three counties in the metro area as well as expanding our current location.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in September with a fall 2017 opening.
The planned two-story location will dramatically increase Mercedes-Benz of Jackson’s operations. The new dealership will entail 70,000 square feet with a dramatically enlarged showroom and 44 service bays – more than double currently available.
“This is a win-win for both the company and our customers, as the new facility will allow us to deliver premier customer service and it’s just minutes away from our current location,” said Higginbotham-Moody. “We take pride in being recognized as one of the top Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the country, and we needed additional space for us to be able to continue that mission with the increased demand for the Mercedes-Benz brand in this market.
The Higginbotham family acquired the dealership – currently located at I-55 north in Jackson – in 2001 and now is rated as one of the top 30 Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the country with the company’s Best of the Best Dealer Recognition Award. The honor is based on the highest levels of customer satisfaction, market penetration and performance.
The focus on customer service – in both sales and service – as well as the attraction of the Mercedes-Benz luxury brand has fueled the dealership’s growth.
“Mercedes-Benz has criteria for dealership to meet, and if we remained at our current location it would necessitate a third expansion. Building a new, modern facility was the best solution. We are excited about the future in this market.”
Porsche of Jackson, also owned by the Higginbotham family, will remain on I-55 North in Jackson.
The Higginbotham family also owns Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Collierville, Tenn., and Myrtle Beach, S., C.
Mercedes-Benz of Jackson offers a large selection of vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz line, including AMG® performance automobiles, Sprinter commercial and luxury vans as well as a large inventory of Mercedes-Benz Certified pre-owned inventory.
Steve Rollins, General Manager of Mercedes-Benz of Jackson, said the benefits to customers will quickly become apparent.
“It will allow a much better customer experience,” said Rollins. “The larger showroom and the ability of customers to view more dealership inventory will be immediately evident. Right now only a limited amount of our inventory is available for customer viewing. And the design of the service area – in addition to more service bays – will provide a better experience.
“Our name will remain Mercedes-Benz of Jackson as this is the dealership serving the entire metro Jackson area. This is quite common as Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham is located in Hoover and Mercedes-Benz of Nashville is in Franklin.”
Mercedes-Benz remains a luxury brand known for its engineering excellence. In recent years it has introduced several value lines that begin at prices under $40,000, and that has grown the brand’s client base.
Project architect is David Eve of Redline Design Group, a Mercedes-Benz certified Autohaus architect. White Construction of Ridgeland has been selected as contractor of the project.
